Turquoise
Turquoise is judged on three things: its color, its texture plus how much matrix it shows.
What to look for
Color
Even, intense medium blue is most prized. Some love greenish blue too.
Matrix
The veins of host rock. Large pieces with no matrix are rare.
Cut
Usually a cabochon, the dome sets off color plus texture.
Size
Found in a wide range. Even color matters at every size.
