Peridot
Collectors want large, well-cut, grass-green peridot. Smaller pastel stones in standard sizes are popular too.
What to look for
Color
Rich, pure grass green, usually in stones of 10 carats plus. Brown undertones lower value.
Clarity
The best is eye clean. Look out for disk-shaped inclusions called lily pads.
Cut
A good cut keeps the color lively plus bright.
Carat
The richest green shows up in larger stones.
