Pearl
A pearl's value comes from size, shape, color, luster, surface, nacre plus, for strands, how well they match.
What to look for
Size
Larger is usually more valuable. South Sea pearls are the biggest.
Shape
Perfect rounds plus symmetrical drops are most valued. Fine baroques are loved too.
Color
White plus black are classic. Overtones add depth. Unusual colors are rising.
Luster
The brighter plus sharper the reflection, the finer the pearl.
